| Hello, PiF is trying to raise money to pay for the legal fees for fighting the flyering penalties DPW has wrongfully imposed upon us (read about it here). Thankfully the indie-gods were listening to my prayers and sent down two wonderful angels known as Ben and Christian from the Bay Bridged. These guys not only organized a benefit with three incredible bay area bands (see details below) but they also went out of their way to organize a special auction. Below are items that were up for bid on eBay. Auction #1: Playing in Fog Alumni Pack Auction #2: John Vanderslice Autographed CDs and DVD Autographed copy of his latest release, Pixel Revolt. Auction #3: Birdmonster Autographed CD, 7 EP, and Poster Auction #4: Co-Host an Episode of The Bay Bridged {{{{{{{ THE BAY BRIDGED PRESENTS }}}}}}} Let all your friends and family know! Itfs the first Bay Bridged presents show! The Bay Bridged presents September 6, 2006 On Wednesday, September 6th, The Bay Bridged will host a benefit concert for Playing in Fog at San Francisco's Make-Out Room. For the last six years, Playing in Fog has served as one of the Bay Areafs best resources on the web for information about the San Francisco indie music scene, as well as the consistently fantastic gPlaying in Fog Presentsh shows, a monthly showcase for the best acts in indie music. Recently, Playing in Fog was fined for violating San Francisco's flyering laws despite not actually posting any flyers. Because the flyers said "Playing in Fog Presents", Playing in Fog's Deb Zeller found herself a victim of the city ordinance's "rebuttable presumption", which finds a person guilty of violating the flyering laws unless they can prove otherwise at an administrative hearing. In the process of unsuccessfully fighting these fines at the hearing, Playing in Fog incurred significant legal fees. All proceeds from this show will go toward a legal fund established to pay for these fines and fees. The show features three of San Franciscofs best indie rock bands: The Invisible Cities gis a San Francisco-based band that makes incandescent rough-around- the-edges sometimes-quiet sometimesloud rocknroll pop music with wiry guitars and boy/girl harmonies. Watertown is their first full-length record, born of late-night, half-remembered reflections about half-remembered places.h They were also voted Best Indie Pop band by the readers of the San Francisco Bay Guardian in 2005! 20 Minute Loop was voted Catchiest Band in 2005 by the East Bay Express: gcitfs immediately evident that their band, 20 Minute Loop, has just unloaded the most absurdly addictive angst-pop record to emerge from the East Bay in, well, actually, ever. Yawn House = Explosion is a ridiculously fantastic mash-up of pop hooks, slide guitar riffs, and dueling boy/girl vocals that either intertwine perfectly or clash magnificently.h Tomihira can be pretty much summed up from this great description written up in the SF Examiner: gLocal shoegazers Tomihira use a moody musical palette a la Joy Division and My Bloody Valentine, with hues ranging from sullen purple to heartbroken violet to just-plain-blue, to create indie-stained portraits of longing and desire. www.thebaybridged.com
