Café du Nord December 8, 2001 Review by Squid Built Like Alaska packed up the kids and the dogs and put em all in the truck and came to the city for a Big Night Out. They even brought some Oakdalians with 'em, like Will and Taylor from Puffin' Billies. Thing is though, we noticed that not everyone was from the Central Valley. Translation: the city kids are catching on! It's about damn time. Panty Lions are Ashod and Ariana from Earlimart. That's the easy way to explain it. It's not as easy to explain their sound. Panty Lions is in many ways a reaction to Earlimart: all about quiet coupled with and extremely strange sense of humor. So quiet that the curtains at Cafe DuNord pulled back to reveal A & A sitting sushi-style on the floor. There ballads of love and moments of strummed brilliance and intimate one-on-one conversations with several members of the audience throughout the set. (Quoth Dave Woody repeatedly: "STRIP! NOW!") We miss our pals from Silverlake. They should visit us more the hell often. Word. Panty Lions
