Sea & Cake
Great American Music Hall
October 29th, 2000

Review by Squid

Once again eager to display our talent for the "Castle Yawn" (see 'Dirty Three'), we headed out to the Great American to participate in the first of two shows The Sea and Cake would be playing that evening. Squid and Daz marvelled at how packed the house could get for indie rock...maybe live music won't die a sad and neglected death in this city, after all. Maybe.

The boys were in good form, and a pleasant pretty evening was had by all. Sparkly, rippling guitars and gentle vocals for everyone. But...but...Squiddy just couldn't help but wonder why there wasn't some sort of altar built around Archer, or at least some candles or flowers. She kept wanting to turn to the blissed-out people around her and scream, "DAMNIT, people! THIS MAN WAS A COCTAIL !!"

The Sea and Cake website was down at the time this was written, but if you would like to know who the Coctails were: www.carrottoprecords.com
