Great American Music Hall March 2, 2007 Review by Jake Thomas When youíve seen a bum pissing in a trashcan, nearly a dozen transvestite hookers, and a kick-ass rock show, you know youíve had a successful night in the Tenderloin. Ted Leo & the Pharmacists came out blazing, playing a ton of songs from ěShake The Sheetsî along with a few newer songs that will most likely be featured on their new album to be released soon. Maybe it was just my old-man ears but it seemed like many of the songs were being played quite a bit faster than they appear on the record ń it still sounded fine, but it did lead to some really erratic dancing by the weekend warrior standing in front of meÖdude probably got a better work-out than he would have at most gyms (think a slightly more subdued version of Joan of Arc in the mall Jazzercise scene in ěBill and Tedís Excellent Adventureî). Looking back, I should have probably joined him and worked of some of this spare tire Iím carrying aroundÖ --- Read our previous Ted Leo review: August 9, 2001 @ Bottom of the Hill ©2007 playinginfog.com |
